On Monday, May 3rd, I plugged another person's article. http://www.sportsfanscoalition.org/2010/05/mlb-to-buy-back-rangers/
Sports Business Journal or SBJ as they like to be called (I have no evidence that suggests they actually like to be called this however I've used it in conversations with several of their writers without missing a beat in the conversation) wrote a very interesting piece about Tom Hicks selling all his massive sports properties, mainly focusing on the Rangers and the recent hiccups he's experiencing passing the torch to the heir apparent, Nolan Ryan, as MLB might ultimately swoop in and gather the team amidst filing for bankruptcy.
I suppose it's the beauty of being a billionaire sports franchise owner: you can file for bankruptcy protection for your company (in this case, the Rangers) while you resume your elitist lifestyle. It's no surprise Liverpudlians HATE Hicks & co.
On Tuesday, May 4th, I wrote an ode to Santa Clara Plays Fair. http://www.sportsfanscoalition.org/2010/05/keep-fighting-santa-clara/
You have to love these grassroots organizations. Us against the world. No help in sight. It's analogous to what SFC deals with each day. The 49ers really should pay for their new stadium if they want it that bad. The same goes for the A's.
On Saturday, May 8th, I wrote about the Minnesota stadium saga. The problem for the Wilf family is that they are in an area which knows how to fight. The people of twin-cities are prepared to tango. I will not predict an outcome, but I will say that it would be a shame for the Vikings to leave town even if rumors put Favre on the clock for his Hall of Fame induction countdown. http://www.sportsfanscoalition.org/2010/05/vikings-stadium-bill-vs-minnesota/The team should stay and pay. Bottom line.
